About Helena Morrissey

Baroness Helena Morrissey DBE is a prominent figure in the City of London, widely recognised for her transformative leadership as the Chief Executive of Newton Investment Management for fifteen years. During her tenure, she oversaw a significant period of growth, doubling the firm’s assets under management to £47 billion. Her career in finance began at Schroders in New York before she transitioned to fund management in London. Beyond her executive background, she currently holds influential positions as the chair of the boards for Fidelis Insurance Holdings, Altum Group, and Barnett Waddingham, and serves as a director for the organisation behind GB News. In 2010, Helena founded the 30% Club, a global campaign designed to address gender imbalance in the boardroom by advocating for a minimum of thirty per cent female representation. This initiative has since expanded across Asia, Africa, and the Americas, successfully doubling the number of women on FTSE 100 boards. Her work in this area is further explored in her book, A Good Time to be a Girl, which challenges traditional corporate structures and promotes a more inclusive system. A mother of nine, she also provides a unique perspective on managing the complexities of professional life alongside significant family commitments. Twice named by Bloomberg as one of the 50 most influential people in global finance, Helena is a member of the House of Lords and a former Chair of the Investment Association. She was appointed DBE in 2017 for her dedication to diversity within financial services and continues to shape the industry through her roles in both the public and private sectors. Audiences book Helena for her unparalleled authority on institutional change, the evolving nature of the workplace, and her ability to articulate the strategic advantages of a diverse workforce. On stage, Helena Morrissey is best known for talks on Financial Services and Diversity & Inclusion. Audiences leave with a clear, practical view of the subject rather than a generic overview — every keynote is shaped around the brief and the room. Helena Morrissey is regularly booked for Business Speaker and Presenter & Awards Host, adapting tone, length and format to suit the event — from a 20-minute opener to a full conference keynote with Q&A.
