About Phil Burt
For more than a decade, Phil Burt served as the Lead Physiotherapist for the highly successful British Cycling squad, spanning three Olympic cycles beginning with Beijing 2008. As a core member of the renowned marginal gains unit, he played a central role in securing twenty-four gold medals. His career began in professional rugby with Sale Sharks, where he supported the team during their European Challenge Cup and Premiership victories before transitioning to become a world leader in cycling performance and injury prevention.
Throughout his tenure with Team GB, he worked alongside legendary figures such as Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Bradley Wiggins, and Sir Chris Froome. Beyond physical therapy, his work encompassed technical improvements in equipment design, clothing, and athlete positioning. This analytical approach extended to collaborations with the British Special Forces and the Premier League, focusing on resilience and elite physical preparation. He is also the author of the internationally recognised cycling book, Bike Fit, and currently applies his expertise to developing innovative consumer sports technology.
Phil offers audiences a fascinating look at the culture of high performance and the meticulous refinement of detail required to stay ahead of the competition. His presentations provide deep expertise into how organisations can foster collaboration and use data-driven strategies to achieve sustained excellence.
On stage, Phil Burt is best known for talks on Science, Marginal Gains and Peak Performance. Audiences leave with a clear, practical view of the subject rather than a generic overview — every keynote is shaped around the brief and the room.
Their work resonates with leaders across Education, Health & Wellbeing and Sport, where the themes translate directly into team decisions, customer experience and growth strategy.
Phil Burt is regularly booked for Business Speaker and Motivational Speaker, adapting tone, length and format to suit the event — from a 20-minute opener to a full conference keynote with Q&A.
