About Lewis Pugh
Lewis Pugh is a world-renowned endurance swimmer, environmental campaigner, and former maritime lawyer. He holds the distinction of being the first person to complete long-distance swims across every ocean on the planet, including pioneering ventures in the Antarctic, the North Pole, and the Himalayas. His remarkable feats include swimming the full length of the English Channel—covering twelve miles daily for seven weeks—and navigating the treacherous waters of the Seven Seas to highlight the vulnerability of marine ecosystems.
As the United Nations Patron of the Oceans, Lewis leverages his firsthand observations of glacier retreat and plastic pollution to influence global environmental policy. He has been instrumental in securing Marine Protected Areas covering more than two million square kilometres of ocean, a territory comparable in size to Western Europe. His ongoing mission aims to ensure that thirty per cent of the world’s oceans are granted official protection by 2030. Recognised by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader and by National Geographic as an Adventurer of the Year, he remains at the forefront of ecological advocacy as one of the key changemakers of 2024.
On the speaking circuit, Lewis draws upon his experiences in life-threatening conditions to explore themes of high-performance culture, mindset, and risk management. He illustrates the necessity of resilient teamwork and meticulous preparation when facing immense environmental and physical challenges. Audiences book Lewis for his ability to translate extreme survival stories into compelling narratives regarding sustainability and the urgent need for decisive corporate and political leadership.
On stage, Lewis Pugh is best known for talks on Change Management, Energy & Sustainability, Business Competitiveness, Peak Performance, Risk & Risk Management and ESG & Social Responsibility. Audiences leave with a clear, practical view of the subject rather than a generic overview — every keynote is shaped around the brief and the room.
Lewis Pugh is regularly booked for Motivational Speaker and Business Speaker, adapting tone, length and format to suit the event — from a 20-minute opener to a full conference keynote with Q&A.
Based in UK, Lewis Pugh travels internationally for engagements.
