About Suzie Imber
Suzie Imber is an Associate Professor at the University of Leicester and a leading voice in planetary science. Her research focuses on the environments of our solar system and the phenomenon of space weather. As a key figure in the European Space Agency’s BepiColombo mission to Mercury, her team developed critical instrumentation to explore the inner planet. Her work Bridging the gap between space exploration and terrestrial challenges, she demonstrates how satellite technology and space-based research are vital for monitoring glacial thinning, natural hazards, and global sustainability efforts.
Demonstrating exceptional resilience, she was the winner of the BBC programme Astronauts: Do You Have What it Takes, where she underwent rigorous selection tests supervised by Chris Hadfield. This included centrifuge training, microgravity flights, and time spent in a NASA underwater research facility. Beyond the laboratory, she is a prolific high-altitude mountaineer who has led expeditions to the Andes, the Himalayas, and Alaska. Using supercomputer programming to map the Andes, she identified and achieved first ascents of numerous uncharted peaks, discovering ancient Inca ruins in the process.
Now working with organisations such as NASA, the UK Space Agency, and Virgin Galactic, she is a graduate of the Qinetiq astronaut training programme. She translates her experiences from the frontiers of science and exploration to boardroom themes of risk management, leadership, and high-performance teamwork. Audiences find her presentations compelling due to her ability to connect complex scientific advancements with the practical necessity of planning for the future of our planet.
On stage, Suzie Imber is best known for talks on Science, Peak Performance, Energy & Sustainability and Risk & Risk Management. Audiences leave with a clear, practical view of the subject rather than a generic overview — every keynote is shaped around the brief and the room.
Their work resonates with leaders across Education and Science & Research, where the themes translate directly into team decisions, customer experience and growth strategy.
Suzie Imber is regularly booked for Business Speaker and Motivational Speaker, adapting tone, length and format to suit the event — from a 20-minute opener to a full conference keynote with Q&A.
