About Alan Dedicoat
Alan Dedicoat is one of the most recognisable voices in British broadcasting, famously nicknamed The Voice of the Balls for his twenty-year tenure announcing the National Lottery draws. A mainstay of prime-time television, he has served as the announcer for the BBC hit Strictly Come Dancing since its 2004 inception, alongside its American counterpart, Dancing with the Stars. His warm and witty delivery made him a household name during his decades at BBC Radio 2, where he famously acted as a foil to Terry Wogan and rose to the position of Chief Announcer.
Originally a student of law and a former executive officer in the Civil Service, Dedicoat found his true calling in hospital radio before building a career through BBC Radio WM and Radio Devon. Beyond his television work, he remains a dedicated supporter of the industry as Patron of the Hospital Broadcasting Association and President of Hospital Radio Bedside. Since late 2023, he has continued to share his broadcasting expertise with listeners as the host of the Sunday Supplement on Victory Online.
A consummate professional, Dedicoat is an exceptionally versatile event host and a natural quizmaster. He brings a sharp wit and authoritative presence to any occasion, whether delivering light-hearted after-dinner stories or managing complex corporate challenges with his trademark charm and precision. Audiences value his legendary vocal talent and his ability to bring a sense of high-production prestige to live events.
On stage, Alan Dedicoat is best known for talks on Broadcasting, Hosting, Public Speaking and Quiz Master. Audiences leave with a clear, practical view of the subject rather than a generic overview — every keynote is shaped around the brief and the room.
Their work resonates with leaders across Entertainment, Events and Media & Broadcasting, where the themes translate directly into team decisions, customer experience and growth strategy.
Alan Dedicoat is regularly booked for Presenter & Awards Host, After Dinner Speaker and Performers and Entertainer, adapting tone, length and format to suit the event — from a 20-minute opener to a full conference keynote with Q&A.
Based in UK, Alan Dedicoat travels internationally for engagements.
