About Ayo Akinwolere
Ayo Akinwolere is a distinguished British-Nigerian broadcaster who first rose to prominence as the initial Black male presenter on the iconic programme Blue Peter. During his five-year tenure, his work earned multiple BAFTA nominations, including a nod for his documentary exploring his heritage in Nigeria. He transitioned from children's television into current affairs and sports, winning a Royal Television Society Award for his investigative work on extremism. Today, he is a primary anchor for CBS Sports on The Golazo Show and handles premier rugby and football coverage for major networks including Channel 4, Amazon Prime, and the BBC.
A celebrated world record holder, Ayo successfully completed an open-water swim across the deepest stretch of the Palau Trench, a feat he used to launch The Swim Challenge to promote aquatic diversity. His recent work includes hosting the award-winning The Athletic FC Podcast, which secured the Sports Podcast of the Year title in 2024. In recognition of his significant contributions to racial justice and the broadcasting industry, he was recently awarded an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University.
Ayo is a highly versatile moderator and keynote speaker who has shared the stage with former European heads of state at international investment summits. Audiences book him for his compelling narrative on breaking barriers, his extensive experience in live elite sports broadcasting, and his authoritative perspective on modern identity and representation.
On stage, Ayo Akinwolere is best known for talks on Broadcasting, Sport, Diversity, Current Affairs and Motivational Speaking. Audiences leave with a clear, practical view of the subject rather than a generic overview — every keynote is shaped around the brief and the room.
